LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

In Tennessee, a will can be defined as a set of instructions for disposing of one's assets after death.  A will can only be enforced through the probate court.  Any assets titled in your name or directed by your will must go through your state’s probate process before they can be distributed to your heirs.

A will is an essential piece of any estate plan.  Will's allow you to name the personal representative of your estate, the guardian of your children, and who receives the assets of your estate.

The probate court will oversee the process of distributing the assets of your estate and will reserve the right to make any changes to your wishes it deems necessary to effectively complete the process.
